How to Layer like a Pro

Choosing and using layers is not always a simple decision, especially in the fickle British climate. That is why when you come and have a chat to our staff we’ll often spend a lot of time talking about what sort of activities you do so that we can help guide you in the right direction. Sometimes, there may be one garment that can do a number of jobs, sometimes you might be better off investing in a couple of items to cover the different environments or activities you do.

Either way the choice of layers available can sometimes be a little baffling and unlike fashion clothing, good outdoor clothing is more like extra equipment to help protect you from the elements.

So, we have gathered together a collection of really helpful videos from some of the massively experienced suppliers, Instructors and Guides that we work with to help you think about the questions you might want to ask us when you come into the shop.

There are some extra links too, giving you access to our own Buyers Guide, our Outdoor Gear Chat Podcast (lot’s of talk about underwear) and for the really techy folk there is also a link to the excellent Outdoor Gear Coach whose book: Keeping Dry and Staying Warm is packed full of technical information.
