Ali’s Round - Wainwright Challenge
How many Wainwright fell tops can you reach from the front door of The Climbers Shop, during shop hours?
Choose your own route through the fells to gain as many summits and points on foot as possible, before racing back to the shop before 5pm!
Using the Ali’s Round Map, you start from The Climbers Shop front door in Ambleside at 9am taking in as many (or few) of the Wainwright summits as you wish. Gaining the furthest Wainwright fell tops from the shop will earn you the highest points.
However, keep an eye on the time as returning late will cost you some of your hard-earned points! Returning 5 minutes late to the shop, (5.05pm) will incur a 10-point deduction from your total points. Return up to 10 minutes late and you loose 50 points. Return more than 10 minutes late and you will lose all of your points, so plan carefully!
To add to your route choice dilemmas, reaching the summit of the 5 highest Wainwright fells (Scafell Pike, Scafell, Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Great End) will earn you double points, and fells 6-10 in the height range giving an extra 50 bonus points each if reached.
Bonus points:
50 bonus points for reaching the top of Angle Tarn Pikes, in honour of The Climbers Shop staff member Steve, who always gets lost trying to find this peak!
50 bonus points for reaching the top of Haystacks and saying hello to Mr Wainwright himself.
To be entered onto our leader board please email us at info@climbers-shop.com your Strava gpx file of your route with the total points gained for the day.
Please remember to log your run on Strava as a race, so that it will record the total time elapsed.
Your route and photos can also be added to our Facebook page.

Why Ali’s Round?
This round and the challenge as a whole, was devised by our very own Shop Assistant Manger, Ali Woodard. It of course only made sense to name it after herself!
