Are you ready to experience legendary mountaineer Doug Scott’s photographic legacy?
With the blessing of Doug’s widow, Trish Scott, his extraordinary body of work is now being brought to public view for the very first time. Community Action Nepal, the charity founded by the late British mountaineer Doug Scott CBE, has been granted exclusive access to Doug’s complete photographic archive — over 30,000 original 35mm slides documenting decades of expeditions across the Himalaya, Karakoram, and beyond.
Doug Scott was renowned not only for pioneering bold, remote routes in the Himalaya and Karakoram, but also for his deep respect for the people and cultures of the high mountains. His archive offers much more than classic expedition shots — it’s a window into rarely seen valleys, seldom climbed summits, and the daily lives of those who call these remote regions home.

Special Launch Series:
Reliving the 1975 British Everest Expedition, 50 Years On
To mark the launch, the account will host a special real-time series following the 1975 British Everest Southwest Face Expedition, one of the most ambitious climbs ever undertaken on an 8,000-metre peak.
Beginning on the 29th July 2025, and continuing through to early October, the account will publish photos, diary entries, and first-hand material day-by-day — exactly 50 years on from the original journey. On 24 September, followers will relive the dramatic summit push by Doug and Dougal Haston, including their unplanned bivouac at 8,760m — still the highest overnight survival in mountaineering history.
While the expedition ended in loss and tragedy, it remains a turning point in Himalayan exploration. Through this immersive, anniversary series, the public can experience the highs and lows of a defining moment in climbing history — told in Doug’s own images.
As part of Joe Brown and The Climbers Shop support of Community Action Nepal we’re releasing a special series of podcasts celebrating the 50th Anniversary on July 30th where we will be chatting with some very special guests including Sir Chris Bonington and Paul “Tut” Braithwaite who were on the SW Expedition with Doug in 1975.
An Ongoing Legacy
After the Everest series, the archive will continue to showcase never-before-seen images from Doug’s career, spanning five decades. Each post will offer insight not only into mountaineering history, but also into the people, stories, and spirit that shaped Doug Scott’s lifelong commitment to climbing and the people of Nepal’s remote valleys.
