The Story behind Our New Uniform
We’re very proud to wear out staff t’s but this fresh round of team uniform is extra special….
When it came to our Joe Brown tee’s we knew we wanted to celebrate our climbing heritage and what better way than to pay homage to the man, the legend Mr Joe Brown by highlighting his first ascents on his favourite crag: Clogwyn D’ru Arddu (Cloggy).
Look carefully and you sill see such lofty great lines as:
Diglyph HVS 5b
Shrike E2 5c
Octo E1 5b
Pinnacle Flake E2 5b
November E3 5c
Vember E1 5b
The Corner HVS 5b
The Black Cleft E2 5c
The Boulder E1 5a
All classics that leave, as do many of Joe’s routes, firm memories in their wake.
Then our thoughts turned to the Lake District - which iconic crag should we choose? It didn’t take long to settle on the mighty Scafell crag. Steeped in history and arguably just as imposing as Cloggy. This time we focused on climbs, features and scrambles including:
Mickledore
East Buttress
Broad Stand
Botteril’s Slab
Central Buttress
Moss Ghyll
Steep Ghyll
West Wall Traverse
The shamrock
Rake’s Progress
It wasn’t long before the tee’s were out on the crag!
But the story doesn’t end there……
We partnered with The Archer Project to get our designs printed up. Operating out of Sheffield Cathedral, the project works with people experiencing homelessness offering opportunities to progress away from day-to-day survival and exclusion to living meaningful and fulfilling lives.
“We focus on helping people to enter employment and keep a work-life balance to avoid a return to homelessness and struggling to manage the pressures of life. ”
In 2024 alone, the charity supported 1,223 people. This Spring, our order was officially their largest screen print order to date and we have been over the moon with both the quality of the tee’s and the printing.
It’s not just our two iconic brands that make us proud to wear our uniform but the hard work, effort and positive impact their manufacture has created too.
